Community pharmacists are trained:
1: To manage minor ailments.
1) Ankle, foot, knee, lower leg pain
2) Athlete’s foot
3) Allergic reactions
4) Bites or stings
5) Coughs and colds
6) Eye infections
7) Headaches
8) Lower back pain
9) Mouth ulcers and blisters
10) Rashes
11) Sore throat
12) Shoulder pain

Pharmacy First Service
Referral via ‘Local Services’ on EMIS
Community pharmacists are now trained to provide medications for the following conditions:
1) Sinusitis
2) Sore throat
3) Earache
4) Infected insect bites
5) Impetigo
6) Shingles
7) Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women If applicable after testing, they can supply antibiotics.
Fee: free of charge if patients does not normally pay for NHS prescription OR standard FP10 charge if they normally pay for NHS prescription

Pharmacy Contraceptive Service
No referral is required, but patients are encouraged to visit participating pharmacies.
Community pharmacists are now trained:
1) To initiate the provision of oral contraception (OC).
2) To continue the provision of OC supplies initiated in primary care (including general practice and pharmacies) or sexual health clinics and equivalent.
Both initiation and ongoing supply will be undertaken using Patient Group Directions to support the review and supply process.
Fee: Free of charge for all patients.
Pharmacy Blood Pressure Service
Referral via ‘Local Services’ on EMIS
Community pharmacists offer blood pressure check to:
1) Identify people aged 40 years or older with high blood pressure, who have previously not had a confirmed diagnosis of hypertension
2) Undertake clinic and ambulatory blood pressure checks, when necessary, at the request of a general practice
Fee: Free of charge for all patients.
