Pharmacy Contraceptive Service No referral is required, but patients are encouraged to visit participating pharmacies. Community pharmacists are now trained: 1) To initiate the provision of oral contraception (OC).
2) To continue the provision of OC supplies initiated in primary care (including general practice and pharmacies) or sexual health clinics and equivalent. Both initiation and ongoing supply will be undertaken using Patient Group Directions to support the review and supply process. Fee: Free of charge for all patients. Pharmacy Blood Pressure Service Referral via ‘Local Services’ on EMIS Community pharmacists offer blood pressure check to: 1) Identify people aged 40 years or older with high blood pressure, who have previously not had a confirmed diagnosis of hypertension
2) Undertake clinic and ambulatory blood pressure checks, when necessary, at the request of a general practice Fee: Free of charge for all patients.
